In each of these face to face sessions, we will practice various subtle tools recommended in Yoga and Ayurveda to create Sattva - lightness, clarity and luminosity of mind. In Classical Yoga, the mind is seen as the source of our suffering. In the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the goal of yoga is to reduce our suffering by clearing and calming the mind. Although many may see the sister science of Ayurveda as a path of healing for the body, it too is a method of healing psychological diseases as well as physical. Ayurveda holds the view that diseases stem from making poor choices, attitudes and misuse of our senses which all stem from psychological factors which form the root of most diseases. What to expect ... Each week will have a specific focus on one or more of the following subtle tools - * Gentle asana to support the breath * Pranayama (regulated breathing) - exploring techniques for specific circumstances * Visualisation * Mantra * Nyasa (gestures) * Focuses * Meditative methods to suit individual dosha, situation, preferences We will also explore and discuss the role of Kriya Yoga (the yoga of action) and Patanjali's system of Astanga Yoga.
