About the event
We’re back in the kitchen! For those of you who joined us in our last workshop, you’ll be keen to get back into the kitchen with Sharon and I - we make it light and fun but don’t skip on the essential qualities of producing wholesome nourishing food!
This will be an intimate cooking workshop where you'll learn to make simple and healthy winter soups based on Ayurvedic principles, and enjoy a shared meal.
New to Ayurvedic cooking?
Ayurvedic cooking focuses on maintaining the balance of your original constitution, or Dosha, to keep the Agni (digestive fire) active. By tailoring food to your individual body’s (Dosha's) needs, you ensure your body gets the energy it needs to function optimally.
How Easy is it to Cook Ayurvedic Meals?
Ayurvedic cooking is straightforward once you understand some fundamental principles, particularly the six tastes (Rasa): salty, sweet, sour, bitter, astringent, and pungent. Each meal should include a balance of these tastes tailored to your Dosha.
Handouts:
- Overview of the six tastes
- Recipe for a six-taste spice mix
- Winter spices guide
- Recipes
- Essential pantry/kitchen items
Does Ayurvedic Cooking Take Longer to Prepare?
Cooking Ayurvedically takes no more time than preparing any healthy meal. The key is having the right ingredients on hand. Planning and preparation. I’ll be giving you a list of essential pantry items and kitchen utensils to streamline your cooking process. You’ll probably have most of these already.
Workshop Details
We'll start with a brief introduction to Ayurveda, then move on to cooking together in a fun and interactive way. Once our soups are ready, we'll enjoy them together around a beautifully set table. All soups are vegetarian, freshly made, and organic.
